Main Presenter:
I know Jon from My Favorite Guitars that he ran for many years as one of the biggest Martin dealerships in the country. I bought my Martin OM-28 Modern Deluxe from him just before he closed shop. Jon Garon has played acoustic music for over 60 years in a variety of musical iterations. Heavily influenced by Doc Watson, Merle Travis and Chet Atkins, Jon is a fingerpicking specialist who also enjoys flatpicking bluegrass music and fiddle tunes. He has shared the stage with Vassar Clements, John Denver’s band, Richard Smith, Clay Hess, Ron Block, Cory and Jarrod Walker, Ron Stewart, Sierra Hull, Mark Johnson, Scott Anderson, Jack Lawrence and many others. He also spent many years in the advertising business, writing and producing radio and TV commercials, jingles, and doing voiceover narration. He has played and done workshops all around the country and still plays festivals and venues in both Minnesota and Wisconsin as well as Florida, where he and his wife Sharon spend their winters. He has played many times with Mike Godwin, who he refers to as “way above my pay scale.”
Michael Godwin's musical journey has allowed him to perform a wide variety of styles, ensembles and shows. Performance experience includes Bob Hope & Sheena Easton, Key Chorale Symphonic Chorus, "Oh Canada" stage show at Epcot/Disney and the Coastal Symphony of Georgia. Michael was deeply honored to play for the "Father of Bluegrass" Mr. Bill Monroe, in 1996. Other Bluegrass performance experiences consist of playing alongside Peter Rowan, Vassar Clements, Richard Bennett (JD Crowe and the New South), Shaw Lane (Blue Highway) and Billy Sandlin (Claire Lynch Band). With the Bohemian Swingers, Chabo Brothers and Gypsy Wind Band (gypsywindband.com); Michael has shared the stage as an opening performer for headliners; Crosby Stills and Nash, Pat Metheny Group, Little Feet, Jefferson Starship, Greg Almond, John McEwen, New Riders, Norman Blake and Del McCoury.
